AN ECONOMICAL SOLUTION
The cost of this equipment, which sends event-activated pictures to a dedicated Remote Video Response Centre (RVRC) for verification visually, can run into thousands of pounds, an outlay which the RemGuard offer - unprecedented in the remote monitoring industry - effectively eliminates.
Said Adam Wiseberg, RemGuard's Managing Director: "The future for remotely monitored CCTV is looking extremely bright, as we combine the implementation of new standards with affordability. The renewed interest generated by BS 8418 - the Code of Practice for detector- activated CCTV - is being translated into real change on the ground by initiatives such as our 'free for use' offer. In this case, a customer who signs up for monitoring stands to save as much as £4000 - effectively we are leasing our RemVu Aquila system at no charge for the duration of their agreement with us."
In practice, the 'free for use' RemVu Aquila is supplied through an approved RemGuard installer on the following terms to:
- Customers who sign a 3 year monitoring contract with RemGuard at the standard monitoring charge (or above). This means free use of the equipment as long as they remain contracted to RemGuard.
- Customers who sign a 6 year monitoring contract with RemGuard at low user monitoring charge, (available to sites with internal detection only).

Benefits of the RemVu Aquila include:
Remote dial in facility, allowing remote access to live pictures from any location (requires Internet style PC browser and modem).
Full system integrity including:
- Continuous monitoring of video loss
- Continuous monitoring of the state of the ISDN line
- Continuous system tamper facility
- Continuous monitoring of camera and detector states
- All integrity monitoring can be remotely reported, even when the system is unset
The Aquila's system setting procedures provide substantial flexibility in the system set/unset process. Remotely monitored CCTV may require more complex entry/exit procedures than intruder alarms, a point not addressed by other transmission systems and ignored by many service providers.
Implementation of RemVu response areas - this allows different sections of a site to be colour coded dependent on the level of security risk. By grading areas the RVRC operator is assisted in making a quick, accurate and uniform response to an event.
