ERDOS AND NEWTON IN SYNERGY FOR DAYTONA

2005 European LMES (Le Mans Endurance Series) contenders Brazilian Tommy Erdos and Briton Mike Newton are gearing-up to challenge the front runners in this weekend’s season-opening round of the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series, the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Erdos and Newton will be joined behind the wheel of the No8 Synergy Racing BMW-powered Doran Daytona JE4 prototype, for this one off Grand-Am outing, by up and coming series regulars Burt and Brian Frisselle.

Erdos commented: "We are extremely pleased with the package that we have secured for this year's Daytona 24 Hours, being familiar with the Doran Daytona prototype chassis from our run here last year, and we believe that the BMW engine should be very strong in terms of performance.

“Of course the Synergy Racing team has immense experience and with people like Director of Motorsport Price Cobb and Chief Engineer Gary Grossenbacher - who have been involved with a number of winning teams at Daytona - there is a wealth of Daytona knowledge and expertise to draw on. We hope that in the No8 car we can repeat our strong showing from last year and are pleased to be linking-up with Burt and Brian Frisselle, both extremely talented drivers, this time around.”

In fact the AD Group supported effort should be capable of going at least one better than last year’s outing where their Doran was the 4th Daytona prototype home in what is undoubtedly America’s premier motorsport endurance event.
