RemGuard Visual Management was formed in 1995 with the objective of supplying high quality CCTV remote monitoring to both commercial and domestic customers throughout the United Kingdom. We began monitoring our first customers' sites utilising DVST transmission equipment manufactured by Dedicated Micros. This was one of the first transmission systems available on the market which made remote monitoring of CCTV possible.
In 1998, RemGuard introduced the RemVu Aquila transmission unit, allowing us to offer additional services to customers that were not previously available. The RemVu Aquila is now a fully networkable solution, capable of replacing multiplexer, video recorder and conventional video transmission systems.
In 2001, we introduced the 'Free for Use' scheme which offers the Aquila system to the user at no cost when a 3 year monitoring contract is agreed. This has resulted in a significant increase in interest from customers who had previously thought they could not afford CCTV remote monitoring.
More recently, RemGuard has been heavily involved in the development of BS8418, the code of practice for detector activated CCTV systems. This has ensured that we have maintained our position as the premier CCTV remote monitoring provider in the UK.
RemGuard is part of the AD Group of companies, whose primary objective was to develop and bring to market new CCTV technologies. The principal shareholder is Mike Newton who founded UK CCTV giant Dedicated Micros in 1982 which ranks No1 globally for multi channel digital video recorders. Under the direction of Mike Newton, AD's growth has been remarkable, with turnover soaring from £930k in 1998 to £72.6 million in 2003.
One of the first companies to embrace the concept of video over IP, AD's interests now include CCTV for aircraft, transport, smoke detection, together with camera technology and digital video recorders and multiplexers.
